The Shell Oil Company Technical Scholarship

Shell Oil Company offers scholarships to selected students pursuing a four-year college degree in engineering or geosciences at certain colleges as described herein. Scholarship recipients will be selected on a competitive basis by a selection committee and will be notified of their award in the early summer after the submission of their application.

To qualify you must:

* Be a US citizen or a permanent resident of the United States * Be enrolled full-time and a sophomore, junior, or senior in one of the institutions listed online * Have a minimum 3.2 GPA, which must be maintained throughout your participation in the program * Major in one of the following disciplines: geology, geophysics or physics; chemical, civil, lectrical, mechanical, petroleum, geological or geophysical engineering

Amount of Awards

* $5,000 per year (4-year renewable scholarship or until bachelor's degree requirements are completed, whichever occurs first).

Application Procedure

* To be considered for the Shell Oil Company Technical Scholarship award, students must complete and mail all documents listed below to the following address: Shell Oil Company, Attention: Terry Garland, 910 Louisiana, Suite 4478B, Houston, TX 77002. * Official college or technical training transcripts through the most current semester completed. * Completed degree plan signed by your College Counselor or Advisor * Two letters of recommendation. Letters from employers or instructors must be on letterhead and should include phone number of the sender. * The first letter of recommendation should be provided by a guidance counselor, teacher, or school official who is familiar with your academic work. * The second letter may come from an employer or from a personal contact (not a friend, classmate, or family member) that has knowledge of your activities outside the classroom (e.g. work experience, community service, extracurricular activities, etc.) * Application deadline is February 28, 2006.
